My PS pump bracket is broke in half...

My power steering pump bracket snapped in half on me today on the way home so now the car is at my dad's friend's house till tommorrow hopefully. The story behind this is that there is a second bracket that I should have on. Well one of the bolts for it snapped off in the head by itself so that is why that's not there. It was raining on the way home so I cut the AC on the way home to cool off and that is when the bracket snapped and the belt fell off. So my plan to fix it is to take the head off my motor and swap on another one from the pick n' pull till I can get my hands on a 3.1. Luckily my sister is out of town for the rest of the week so I get to drive around a 99 Grand Prix GT for the rest of the week, yay! I don't have pics of the bracket but thankfully nothing else seems to be damaged. I was even to find the belt which is still in one piece. What are signs of a good/bad head so I don't FUBAR this motor even farther? What I really need to know is the 2.8/3.1 heads are the same correct with no differences at all. I need to know for sure so I can do this swap this weekend. Or would it be best just to take the head off and take it to a shop to get them drilled out? (The broken stud)

depending on your mechanical abilities, you can easily do the head in a weekend. as far as judging a good/bad head by looks. cant really do that. it may look good by your eye, but could easily be warped or leaking somewhere. best way is to have it pressure checked and decked. this may not be so easy in your situation bro. if you can find something else to drive for a day or so during the week, pull it, have it checked.... or drilled out, while a shop is open and put it back on over the weekend.
