Would this cause a rough idle?

On my 3.1, I got the Y-intake off of a 2.8 V6 and two K&Ns installed. Where the rubber snorkel meets the tube coming off the Y-intake, its got a gap and does'nt fit tight. It holds ok, but still a gap. I sprayed intake cleaner in that spot and it changed my idle to a little smoother sound unless that was just the car burning off the cleaner I just sprayed. Anyway I can fill in the void with tape or something?

No, you have a MAP system, so that means that anything in front of the Throttle Plates won't affect your idle. If you had a MAF system, then that point starts at the MAF sensor instead of the TB.

The reason that your idle smoothed out is because you do have an intake vacuum leak somewhere sucking in air. The extra "fuel" made up for the leak and raised the idle speed and smoothed it out.

Sounds like it's time to start spraying carefully around the intake to me.
