right front clunk/poly bushing question

first off, i know its not the right place for this, but i seem to have a hard time getting any replies out of the suspension board......

after a search i couldnt find anything that related to my concern. under normal braking and occasionally when taking off again, i feel a clunk that is coming from the right front area. the ball joints have maybe 20k on them, strut bearings are maybe 30k. im thinking control arm bushings. i havent had a chance to get underneath it yet, but i was wondering if anyone has had this concern?

if it is the control arm bushings, and i put polyurethane ones in, how much does it affect the ride? ive already got Spohn control arms and panhard bar in the rear and it does seem stiff. im just wondering how much stiffer it will make it, not too bad, or night and day difference.

I like the poly bushings because they last longer. I'm not sure that they stiffen it up so bad that you can't take it...

How many miles you got on your car? I'd look at the front sway bar end links. They seem to be the culprit on many other cars for what you're describing.

You can get those in poly too!!

sway bar end links were replaced when i first got the car, so not quite 40k on them and theyre not broken either. the car has 162k on it.

Have you checked them lately? sometimes the little self locking nut comes loose and allows those pieces to slap around...

also the main sway bar bushings contribute to that. the reason I brought it up is that you said it happens most often while braking or accelerating. The sway bar is very sensitive to those actions if anything is starting to loosen up...
