Putting in a new MSD GM blaster coil.

I'm all for doing the simple mods that all come together in the end for a overall better running car.

Do you guys think swapping in a GM Blaster coil is worth it on a daily driver.... that likes to see the higher RPMs sometimes?

I've allready got a -better than stock distributor- and some Accel wires that are 8mm spiral core.

I don't know the specifics on that stuff because my dad threw it on the car when we first got it and it didnt run and I didn't know alot about it back then. I'm not sure what the plugs are.

But overall do you think a MSD blaster coil - the GM dual connector one - would be a worthy improvement for the $45.00?

I like the MSD stuff, personally. If it's a bolt on then you have nothing to lose. It's a high quality piece and can do well no matter what your set up.

I put one in my car when I did my plugs/wires/cap & rotor. Dunno if it helped much, seeing as my car doesn't quite run right now.

I put one on my car along with Accel wires and NGK plugs - it seemed to work ok.

Unless your running FI i dont think aftermarket ignition will get you any improvements over stock quality parts...

but I always buy MSD stuff anyways

Re: Putting in a new MSD GM blaster coil.

from previous posts ive read on here about this kinda stuff, just a coil or whatever wont hurt, but it doesnt really help too much unless you put in an ignition box and all that as well. ive had both a GM replacement on mine and an MSD blaster coil, i didnt really notice any difference. I guess, unless youre going all out id just stick w/ the GM replacement, unless $$ isnt really a big deal, lol.

Re: Putting in a new MSD GM blaster coil.

Well I don't NEED to replace it, nothing is wrong with the one I have. I was just looking for an improvement. But from what I've been hearing it doesn't sound like it's something worth going for right now.

Thanks for the info guys.
