yea...there was an 2004ish impala i guessed stopped. i was about 3 cars behind the a durango. all i saw was brake lights and smash......slid about 45ft(abs is bullshit) into the durango. cars totalled. quoted $3000 damage on the police report.

That really bothers me, when cops think they know about vehicle repair and use thier "power" to determine if a vehcile is safe, or how much it will cost to repair it, by just looking at it for a couple minutes on the side of the road. :roll:

what sucks the most is you didn't even get to take the dodge out. i mean it's really sad there is one less third gen. but it would have been a little sweeter if you got to take a dodge with you.

Were you the last in a 3 car crash? If so, you can probably get out of it being your fault if the Durango hit the Impala first.

They only do that because if it's less than a certain amount of damage, it's a no-fault situation in most states (each insurance company would be responsible for their own insuree). In this case $3k would be in his favor, the car doesn't book that high.

Just so you know, your car doesnt have ABS, pumping the brakes may have helped you here. But our brakes suck anyway. Also how did the airbag feel...?

 

You implying that you thought your car had ABS brakes? Or did the Durango have ABS brakes and stop quicker than you, hence you rear ended him? Anyways, sad to see another 3rd gen die, at least it was a RS V6.

I ment that it wasn't an ultra rare 3rd gen, GM made @ 80,000 RS Camaros in 91

As a owner of a RS I feel his pain. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OWNING AN RS. He lost a thirdgen. Simple as that. He lost his car. Be more sympathetic. No it was not ultra rare but he put his money into it and reguardless of what the badges on the side say he lost a piece of U. S. auto history.

Hopefully insurance will give him enough to get another thirdgen

You guys are taking what I said all wrong, I never said there is nothing wrong with owning an RS, Christ, I even own a 91 RS. I'm giving up.

 

Dude sorry about your car man. It seems that many cars within our profile cant handle a hit from an SUV. ok heres a quick story time.

I was driving a 2006 Explorer in by Tampa International Airport and there is a ton of construction and all and I was getting off a ramp and everyone in front slams on their brakes, so instictively I slam on mine, I hit no one but i had a chill that someone would hit me. Then a 2007 Cadillac CTS hit me and my SUV jumps a bit. so i get out and i have like 3 scuffs and the entire front of the CTS looked like your car. I had no police report cause the dude is like dont worry about it its no big deal so I let him go as well lol

Point of the story is that it seems like SUV have some sort of heavy duty bracing or somehting that destroys cars like ours. and again sorry for your loss.

 

What? You just let him go after he rear ends you? In my beater 93 ford explorer i would consider it, but in a 06 explorer i would not...

Is there more to this story...or that was it? The guy was able to just drive his car away? You didnt get in touch with insurance or anything?

Well with my situation, there was two factors. One was that there was no damage what so ever on the explorer, the caddy was leaking radiator fluid everywhere tho... but the thing is that we are getting rid of the explorer anyways and I checked everything out on the explorer and there was pretty much no damage, the scuffs were on the towing housing.

 

we don't have airbag's in the 89's

it doesn't look that bad. a new front clip (50), hood (50), fenders (35 each), radiator(50), maybe AC Stuff & paint... that will run you $250 max from a junk yard. or did your front end all get messed up? axle, etc? your metal front bumper looks just fine.

buy a roller and toss in ur engine/trans and good to go!

 

thats a '91, the GFX gave it away. the '89 is gone i'm guessing

 

yea the '89 i bought as a project that never made it.

i had disconnected the airbag cause it was starting to separate and didn't wan't it to randomly go off.

didn't have a way to get to my house so a driver from the towing company gave me $100, frame was bent.. my shock tower was in my firewall. since my car was "low" it didn't even hit the impact bar. im ok but goin through some pain. wasn't wearin the seat belt and my head hit the windshield ( got some nice whiplash), knocking the rear view off into my lap. also bent the steering wheel from me trying to hold it from flying forward. im glad the airbag didn't deploy cause i wouldve been in alot more pain right now.

workin on a 91 z 350 tpi but idk if its gonna work out due to finacial reasons.
