Possible group purchase on intake spacers
There is some interest on some intake spacers on some other sites (cavalier, beretta) that are making spacers for the intake. They will fit between the UIM and MIM. They will help the UIM from heating up and will hopefully help airflow at the extreme bend in the intake. They are 1/2" thick. I'll post up pics and details later this afternoon. They will cost somewhere $70, the more people the cheaper.

They are CNC'd and will go between the UIM and MIM. If 10 people sign up for them they will cost around $70 for the set.
This is where the idea is created and based and there might be details in any of the posts:

These spacers will help inprove airflow and might give some extra horses especially in the bottom end.

That'd mess up the AC compressor's bracketry, wouldn't it? Lol. I can't see the gains being worth the $$$ for them though.

That I did not think about, it does cost a bit but I think that I will have to pass on it, don't have the funds.

Re: Possible group purchase on intake spacers
Talked to the guy and he could make something like this to solve that issue. I'm not sure of how much extra it would cost. With the 1/4" ones I made the bracket will work, the only thing I had to do was put the bracket on then bolt it down. It is actually sitting on top of the intake itself then bolted down.

Still seems like the cost would heavily outweigh the gains.

Re: Possible group purchase on intake spacers
hmmmm....correct me if I am wrong, but one is longer than the other correct? If I recall, the intake on my FWD 2.8 looks like that. One side longer, one side shorter.
And since you said cavalier etc...aren't those intended for the FWD 2.8/3.1??

Re: Possible group purchase on intake spacers
It't really for the earlier generation Cavys and such. Their intake is like ours except the TB os offset to the side or angled. I don't know the details for the spacers.
Re: Possible group purchase on intake spacers
The gaskets are interchangeable, so the spacers (identical to the gaskets) would also be interchangeable.
One side is not longer, they are just offset. You can turn your upper plenum 180* and it will work fine, except the TB would be against the firewall in a RWD (normal position for a FWD). This is how I got my 3500 top end to work in my RWD.
