Non-A/C car pics

Need to see a belt routing pic of your 6/60's, for those of you that have nearly stock engines (no hybrids please) without A/C and a serpentine belt. If I'm thinking correctly, all I need to do is change the location of a bolt on the P/S pump bracket so I can slap a non-A/C belt in and finally get rid of my heavy compressor. I especially need to see the bolts for the P/S pump, because I believe that one of the upper holes that is unthreaded (bolt threads into head) is used for the A/C cars, and the other for the non-A/C cars, and I'm just checking. I already tried a non-A/C belt and it didn't fit because something in the hose routing wasn't right. BTW, I DON'T have an AIR pump, either... it was removed with the 3.1 swap and all I have left of that is the pass side exh manifold check valve.
Pics can either be posted here or emailed to me at maverickh1_l@yahoo.com.

Re: Non-A/C car pics

What, nobody happens to have a picture or digital camera so they can nab a quick shot of how their power steering pump bracket is set up? How else am I supposed to get rid of my A/C compressor?

By using a delete pulley. $40 from any parts store. I've not seen anyone who has modified the PS pump bracket, but it'd certainly be neat if it worked.

Re: Non-A/C car pics

I have seen it done without using an A/C bracket. i just can't get at the car good enough to look at the way the power steering pump bracket is set up because it suffered a front end collision and i can't get at it that close. And there is 2 holes on the p/s bracket for the upper mount hole. Nobody modifies the bracket itself, just the upper mount bolt location and its relation to the other pullies.

And spending that kind of money to get rid of the A/C compressor if I don't need to is a little bit excessive in my book.

Maybe I should have asked if anyone had any pics of STOCK, UNMODIFIED vehicles that have the AIR pump WITHOUT A/C...

Re: Non-A/C car pics

If the 2.8 serpentine drive non-A/C is the same I saw one. It used a idler pulley that pressed down on the belt before it got to the power steering pump.

I know its been a while since I've been on... my laptop has been in the shop for the last week. But, I need to know if this is a stock setup, and if it is, how long is your belt? I did some measuring the other day and I found that the shorter belt is only around 4 inches shorter than the AC belt. If the belt still has its part number in ink on it somewhere, I could use that, but if not, if you could measure that for me, I'd appreciate it.

:edit: I read in your post that you used the non AC, non AIR belt that I used. I couldn't get mine to fit right at all because it was too short...

Re: Non-A/C car pics

from the pictures it looks like that is the stock 3.1. I took out my smog and AC from my 2.8 it was really easy to figure out the routing. I believe the belt size I used was 69 inches. I got pics if you need them.

Pics and belt length would be very helpful.
