questions and concerns about installing new cam bearings

hello, you guys might remember me because of my ongoing engine rebuild. I haven't been working on it for a while due to work and school, but now I need some help. I've got the '84 2.8 liter engine with small mains, and yes, I'm aware that the later versions are far more robust, but I'm not interested in that right now. I'd like to know how others install their new cam bearings. I've got a bearing installer, but i'd have to pound the middle bearings through the rear and front journals to get them to the middle. I'm just wondering if that will cause excess wear/damage to the bearings. Just let me know how you would do it. Also, is there some sort of order in which the bearings HAVE to go, because I've noticed that only one of my bearings out of the set fits snugly into the rear bearing journal. Aren't they supposed to be the same size, and if not, how do I know which bearings go where?

I take it to the machine shop. They're installing mine this week for an extra $10.

Seriously, if you have to ask, then this job is NOT for you... this job is for a machine shop...

If you really want to know how to do it, just watch the machinist. But for the love of Christ, don't attempt this yourself without knowledgable help standing by(ie, machinist).

Re: questions and concerns about installing new cam bearings

ok ok, I got them installed...well, last week I did, I called my machine shop and the guy was very helpful and was very knowledgeable of the GM 1984 2.8 with all it's querks and problems, I installed them myself thankyou very much lol and installed the cam and everything seems in order right now, if I start it up and she fails, I won't feel too bad.

edit, btw, this thread is solved (i don't know if there's some sort of setting I'm supposed to use to mark it as "solved") I'll be starting many more new threads though
