Idle Problem when Hot & Check Engine Light

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. Just bought my father's Firebird 93 V6 3.4L Manual.

Now, 2 weeks later. I got a Check Engine Light and Idle Problem. Car runs GREAT when just started but start to have heratic Idle when it gets hot ( Temp is ~ 50 on the gauge in Celcius I think ). The Rpm jumps from 600 to 900 on neutral when not driving ( 0km/h) and when driving it goes down to 500 and go back to ~1000 when switching from any gear to neutral.

I Blocked the EGR valve since it had 1 port stuck a litle open.
Chenged the TPS runs a bit better but still have problem.

Tune-up has never been done since past 2 years I think. Could this affects my car like this ? The car only saw like 10 000km in 2 years, never saw winters too.

So what should I check ? TPS, ACT, Air leaks ?
How do I sort my Engine Code ? (Triied to jump A and B on the ALDL connector but it doesnt flash)

EDIT :: Seems like I did the right thing.. Whats wrong if my light doenst flash ? I hear the Radiator FAN is on when doing this jumping.

Thank A lot !!

Re: Idle Problem when Hot & Check Engine Light

So no one know why check engine light won't flash ?

Plus when I just started the car, when putting in gear one [pressing clutch] my LOW TRAC light come on then off one time. and never again. It just flash one time when I start the car...

Does a bad Speed sensor could do this ? and Idle problem ?

Thank

Re: Idle Problem when Hot & Check Engine Light

Ok seems like it fixed by itself... don't ask how.

The Temperature was before always sitting at the very bottom, around 40C I think, guess it's not very warm... euh
Now it goes from 1/4 gauge to 1/2, so around 80C I think [not sure since last is 125C, red]

Guess the ECT (Coolant Temp sensor) is either bad, almost disconnect or not grounded well. I read somewhere the ECM ground can cause this too...

Where are located the ECT and the ECM's ground on a Firebird 93 V6 Manual ? 3.4L

Thank, need to the hayes manual.
