Recurring Code 34

Okay, I have a recurring code 34 (MAF showing low intake air flow). I have gone through the flowcharts ( Trickster) and have come to the conclusion that my MAF is bad. The problem is that I just replaced it in June, and I also replaced it last year as well (the old one had a warped frequency film and the one I replaced that one with was replaced due to car showing same symptoms and because this one I have been using has a lifetime warranty on it, so a NEW MAF costs me NOTHING). Now, if I pull up to a stop light and let the engine idle for about 15 seconds, the idle is very jumpy (3/400-900 RPM), may stall, and will generally level out around 700 when the code 34 sets in.

I don't want to replace the MAF again if I don't have to. I have looked inside the one I have now and the frequency film is flat, like it is supposed to be. Like I said, I followed the GM troubleshooting flowcharts and have come to the conclusion that the MAF is bad, again.

I seriously don't think that having 2 partially clogged injectors can cause this code to keep setting, or can it? I need some insight here, and I'm not going back to the guys at school (they have already proven their idiocy).

Re: Recurring Code 34

A vacuum leak can cause a MAF code and mess with your idle. You may want to try looking in to that if you can't find any other problems.

I don't have any vacuum leaks, either. My engine runs around 17" of vacuum at all times.

I was getting a code 34 and as soon as I fixed the valve selector for my heater controls, it went away. Vacuum leaks sure are annoying.

Re: Recurring Code 34

Well, I just checked the heater controls a couple of months ago, thinking along the same lines that they were causing a vacuum leak (when it was even HARDER to keep the engine idling), and they held a vacuum, up to around 25" Hg. I suppose it's worth a shot to disconnect everything from the engine vac ports except for the FPR, EGR, and brake booster for a couple of days to see what happens.
