It can with some modification. You would have to get motor mounts and change the location of the starter. I believe that the tranny will bolt up just fine.

Re: Grand am 3.4???
The basic layout is the same, the starter is on the wrong side, and has to stay that way, since the block won't support drilling for a passenger side starter mount. To do this you will need to use an oil filter relocate kit, due to where the oil filter and starter will want to occupy the same space.
The lower bolt on the passenger side is not threaded in the FWD block, and will require the use of a langer (than stock) bolt and nut, or possibly some other solution I haven't come up with yet.
Engine mounts will need to be custom, especially for the driver side, the passenger side could re-use the stock mount, but use only two of the bolt holes, to have proper position. You will also need to either cut out the crossmember or modify the oil pan.
Headers will need to be custom. You could possibly use some F-body headers (for the 2.8/3.1, not manifolds) and change the flanges to have the proper bolt spacing and port shape.
Throttle cable will need to be changed out, some cooling modifications are needed, conversion to DIS ignition and a few other details will all need to be overcome.
