How ya adjust the gear selector?

Whenever I put the car in PARK, the car seems to keep rolling forward. I have to put on brakes and kinda nudge the gear selector into PARK to make stay there. It feels like it needs adjusting underneath the car. I remember something about it at one time, but I can't remember on how to adjust it. Seems like ya gotta adjust it in NEUTRAL or something the PARK. Any takers?

Ken

Re: How ya adjust the gear selector?

Here is what my book says...

1. Place the control lever in N
2. Raise the car and support it with jackstands
3. Loosen the cable attachment at the shift lever
4. Rotate the shift lever clockwise to the park detent and then back to neutral
5. Tighten cable attachment to 11ft. lbs. (15 Nm)

The lever must be held out of P when tightening the nut

Hope that helps.

This would be at the transmission shift lever. Be sure to block the tires, front, back and several of them. As shifting the tranny out of park it can roll.
