Cams to lower compression?

So I'm looking into turbo charging my 3.1, I was wondering if anyone made cams to lower my compression so I can increase boost. Any thoughts? Or maybe if there are any cast pistons I could install from another engine that would lower compression.

Re: Cams to lower compression?

Using a cam with a late intake closing point to lower the dynamic compression only works on na engines, boosted engines are obviously under pressure negating the effects of a large cam under boost. You can find other pistons, but why would you want to? Lowering the compression to squeeze a little more boost in is basically just a tradeoff without any gains. It'll be weaker when not in boost and won't make any more power than a higher c/r, lower boost combo.

Re: Cams to lower compression?

So i'm better off getting an alky injection kit or something of that sort if I wanna raise boost?

It'll take 14 psi on pump gas and stock internals?

Re: Cams to lower compression?

That's more or less what project89 has done (with an intercooler). Stock rods are forged, stock crank is nodular iron and the stock pistons can hold up to almoast anything you throw at it short of detonation. Hypereutectic pistons are actually stronger than forged, but much more brittle.
