Replaced injectors, longer crank time?
Okay, I finally got the Bird going again after my 3-month registration suspension (don't ask, too long a story). Now, last month, I ordered a set of "tested" fuel injectors from a place called B & M Engine supply in Texas (took a whole ****ing month to get here!
) and put them in last week. Now, I ordered the injectors because 2 of mine were running lean, and I wanted to replace them because cleaning doesn't seem to help my fuel system for some reason
. Since I replaced the injectors, my crank time has gotten to be twice as long, only when cold. Can someone shed some light on this for me?
BTW, I'm not sure whether the replacement injectors were from an FWD or RWD platform (most likely FWD, but it shouldn't matter, right?), and they have some sort of green ring on them near the lower o-ring groove.

You have a 87 with a 3.1 L??...are you sure you purchased the right size injectors?.double check the numbers off the injectors. This happen to me got some claiming to be for a 3.1 and turned out to be 3.4L.Hard time starting after warming up,and running rich.Maybe you got smaller ones then the 3.1 too??.

Update:
ECM threw a code 45 (rich) at me this morning. Don't know just how relevant it is to my problem. All I can say is that flooring the pedal don't help to start the engine any.
:edit: Just noticed the post above.
Yes, I do have an 87 with a 3.1. The engine was swapped in four years ago (well, almost). The thing is that it starts normally, right quick, after it has started when dead cold. I don't have a lack of power, either, and the exhaust doesn't sound like the engine is running excessively rich (believe me, I would know... I can tell the difference).

Re: Replaced injectors, longer crank time?
Sounds like you're running rich... Are the injectors physically the same as the ones you took off the car? Or are they aftermarket?

Re: Replaced injectors, longer crank time?
I'm just going to live with it until this Saturday, when I get home and have a chance to put the two sets side-by side for comparison. Before I get the "new" ones out, I'm going to do a pressure test to see if any leak, and replace the bad ones in my old set with ones from the "new" set, if the P/N's match up. Yes, other than that green ring, the two sets are identical.
