bird wont start after changed thermostat
i just bought an 89 firebird 2.8 multi port injection. I replaced the fuel pump cause it was bad it and it run good after that but was overheating. I did it the hack way by cuttin a hole in the trunk. I took off the top part to get to the thermostat and there wasn't one in it when i took off the hose which is probably why it was overheating. I put everything back together right. I noticed the top part with 2.8 multi port on it had a gasket so i put ultra black gasket maker on it and the metal hose that hooks to the side of the throttle body. Now it won't start. It turns over like its out of gas and tried to fire a couple times when i first tried to crank it. The gas gauge reads 1/4 tank unless I messed up the floater somehow installing the pump. The hose in the middle of the pump was leaking a bit so I took all them off and put that one on first cause it wasn't all the way on the hose good so I tightened them back on. I don't think that could be the problem but like I said it was running fine until I did all this. Check engine light is on is there a way to check the codes without having one of those little code readers? I'm doin everything as cheap as possible cause I have spent all I had this week on this car.

Re: bird wont start after changed thermostat
I poured some gas into the throttle body and it started for a second and died. I noticed there is a sensor on the left side of the tb that has a 3 prong connector with plastic tube around the prongs. The plastic tube has broken off inside the connector of the sensor and it looks like the middle metal prong is broke too. I have no idea what this is. I noticed too there is a 2 prong sensor on the block on the right side of the tb if your looking at the engine i think this is for the temp gauge. It is unplugged and hard to to plug back in.
