83 Berlinetta
83 Berlinetta
I'm buying an 83 Berlinetta. For those of us who may have troubles with basic math the car is now this year, 25 years old. this means that in my state it no longer must abide by federal emissions regulations. how involved is the removal of the emissions control systems that plague the engine and desecrate it's power?

Nothing you're going to remove is going to give you more power.
EGR only works during part throttle, since the power you're looking for is at WOT, there's no vacuum to make the EGR operate.
The catalyst is capable of outflowing at least 300 HP, so that's not going to get you anything.
The Air Injection pump only takes about 1/4 HP to run

But there really isnt any gain to be made. Also welcome aboard Hurley_turley. If the emission stuff is in the way or it dosent even work you can take it out...but there is really no more reason to remove it than that.

Re: 83 Berlinetta
Sorry that was sarcasm. You might gain .5 hp by taking off the cat. But I doubt that you would see/knowtice any gain.
You have to get a different one. The V6 have a different bolt pattern than the V8s do.
