'86 and '87 Engine Question

What is the difference between the '86 and '87 2.8 V6 engines?

Will the parts (oil pan, intake, exhaust manifolds, valve covers, timing cover ballancer flexplate and electronics) off my '86 fit on a '87

And will my '86 auto tranny bolt up?

Re: '86 and '87 Engine Question

They are the exact same engine from what I know. Vacuum line routing will sometimes differ greatly between engine years, though. I would recreate one system instead of trying to merge the two.

Re: '86 and '87 Engine Question

I think the 87 was the first year for internally balanced, but that won't affect you if you don't swap major internals.

Re: '86 and '87 Engine Question

It was actually earlier than that, but I can't find the thread firstfirebird mentioned it in(Yet Another 3.4 Swap by me), due to search being broken again. I believe he said it was 84 or 86?
