bad idle
car is a 92 camaro 3.1 auto. I dont drive it much anymore. most of the time it sits in the garage. About every 5 starts the engine barely idles. the tach goes up to 3500 rpms and falls back down to like 800 rpms and then back up to 3500 rpms. I turn the car off, wait two seconds and restart and she purs like a kitty. The rotor, car, wires and spark plugs were changed less than 2k miles ago. Any ideas?

Re: bad idle
I may be a little off, but when my car was having that problem, i changed the MAP sensor, and it idled smoothly, my car tho also would almost die on me when i slowed down too much around cornors, maybe go have it tested?

Re: bad idle
Mine used to do that ..I found a bad fuel pressure regulator...was leaking fuel and dumping it into the throttle body..sometimes the car wouldnt start cause it was flooded. If you already checked codes, and basic items and found nothing.I would pull the vacuum line off the reg.and see if fuel comes out.I think regulators and injectors are not high quality on these cars.My reg. was brand new and the diaphram started to leak?.Dont know if the Lucas fuel treatment contributed to the faulty reg. or not but I an't running no more.
