Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

It does but its not, the hatch for that kit has a squared lip or end with a build in brake light.

That is unless there are several different kits, then maybe someone use the stock body lines more???

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

Might wanna just start to email every company that works in glass parts like that.
Send them pics and ask for any help. Most of them probably did make stuff at one time but don't anymore. They may have a part on a shelf still or know of someone who does, might even still have the molds for one similar and would make up a batch if they got a few orders.

That or just find a testarossa kit car for sale and go that route.
The ones made out of a 3rd gen look right over the fiero kits.

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

You can spray any engine with 75-100 shot.

There was a guy on here with a mustang wet 100 shot on his 2.8 for years.

Holley even sells a 75 dry kit for our cars.
Used a return line cut off that boost fuel psi under spray.

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

Check your U-joint, its one thing to check before you have to decide "crap its the tranny". If they go bad you will get loud clunking putting in gear and in my cars case even during gear shifts. The added power from a 100 shot on an old worn out U-joint could speed things up.

Might be the tranny mount or the universal joint.

I had a similar problem...and it turned out to be my tranny mount.

A stock L98 can kill a rubber trans mount, and a 2.8 or 3.1 with a 100shot would have just about the same powerlevels. The trans mount could easily have gone as well. If it is the trans mount go poly and the problems will dissapear.

I'm just taking a shot in the dark here. I would check everything in your rear axle. That shot of nitrous might have been to much for your old ring and pinion. Although it could be anything in your rear end assembly.

I would start with the tranny mount, than the universal joint...if its not those move on to the ring and pinion...than check the bearings.

Just 2 quick questions...How fast were you going when you hit the nitrous? And did you win?

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

Cool, under normal condition your not gonna hurt anything but any parts that are on the iffy list, nitro will find them.

When I lost me original T5 it was doing hi speed e-way run.
Got stuck in 4th, had to drive home like that.
Thought it was fixed, had to drive home in 5th the next time around.

Yes you can take off in 5th but its not even close to easy and once goin you don't dare stop.

Oh and how is your hatch search going???

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

I can prop up a ruler and just take pics of stuff so you can't blame me when its not right

The windows id make as big as possiable, some are more square and fill up the whole space which would help to see.

I had to lower my rear view mirror 2 inches to be able to see good with out need to sort of sit up and look down at it to see more then a few cars behind me, them cops usually hang back far at first.

Though cops don't mind it at all. Its my station wagon they don't like.
Got no clue why but they pay no attention to the Bird but ride my butt in the wagon.

Well Id make a mold or two of the whole hatch as is, then mod the mold.
How it look like what they did when you see them up close. Then you know its all gonna line up and fit and the place your moddin are not critical to fitment.

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

can a cop really give u a ticket for nitrous oxide?

i knwo they can hassle u if its hooked upto the bottle but i was under the impression as long as u have the dot permit ur all in the clear.

i used to have my bottle mounted right up in the back hatch clear as day and had cops behind me and **** and never once got stoped for it

From what Ive always heard, its not illegal to have a NO2 system in your car...if it is not connected. When its all hooked up, ready to go, is where the illegal part comes into play.

But Im no cop...nor do I like the spray...unless its on a, strictly, drag car.

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

I got side tracked wit ha new puppy and forgot about them pics. Ill get them tomorrow.

Up I have seen lots of NOS thread where folks say you need to rebuild the spray solnoide every 2-3 bottles or something real short, or use a $900 one that last maybe 10 bottles.

They will do that. stick open or leak and mess things up from minor or bad.
Like being wide open and it sticks wide open and you letting off the gas doesn't do anything, killing spark don't help and it blows or run like an ape till the bottle is empty enough for it to stall out.

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

After the import crazy, many states made a law where NO2 being connected and ready to go on the road is illegal.

If solenoids go out that fast, you think some company would redesign the things to last.

Holy hell! I guess you did try to drive through a river

I would drive an hour out of my way before I try to go scuba diving with my car. Unless I had the James Bond Special Edition
If they had that option back when our cars were made, you'd have been ok

well as far as the solenoids the they say it because i got water and short out but the guy said i was lucky it was half open and there was water in the engine-.- because it would have blown the intake off and in to the next county o.0

I drove my old v6 into a flooded road and flooded the engine out. Got it towed home. Pulled all 6 plugs, cranked the engine. Let it sit over night and installed 6 new plugs the next day,.. off she went.

Oh to be young again. 3 pages of stories and you're still not satisfied?

What I always liked to do...get to a light, where I knew a cop was always ahead in a blind spot, let a car pull up to me and rev the engine...when the light went green I wouldn't move but the other guys would always take off........but they never made it that far

I guess I am past the age where reckless driving is fun. For some reason, putting my life, and others lives, in danger isnt to appealing anymore. I guess I am just losing it

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

At some speed w/ any car, the HP needed to overcome drag and go faster becomes infinite. There is a LOT more to consider than just theoretical gear ratio and rpm limitations. A V6 will become hp limited due to drag. It doesn't matter how much gear you have left. But I'm guessing guys that think they can go 200 mph with 125 hp did not study aerodynamics.

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

Ok taking pics with a ruler does not work like I had hoped. Nothing came out how I wanted or would be of much use I think.

I can get general dimensions but most will have to be free hand copied.

Re: V6 TOP OUT take it to the limit

95 MPH on the G.S. Parkway... Yes I know not 2 impressive but I had a brand new set of brake drums from Summit racing that were out of round. Wanted to see when the car would stop shaking hard enough to loosen my fillings!!! Wound up putting the old ones back on. Now it rides smooth again.
I just read through this whole post and must thank you all for some of the best laughs yet!!!
