High Milage 3.1 Owners

Anything special I should be doing to keep this baby running pristine.

Car is a 1992 Camaro RS, 3.1L, 700r4

I am 2nd owner, it has 350,000 KILOMETERS or 217479 MILES

Car runs like a top and does 1000 KILOMETERS a week, as my winter car, haha.

Here she is (I use the colour matched 5stars with snow tires in the snowy months, its still semi nice, so the C5's are on her) :

Looks real good for such high mileage. What do you do that you drive so much in a week? Must be a heck of a commute. ~90 miles per day.

I am a service advisor at a Honda dealer.

I just live 100km away from where I work. I like driving though, heh.

I'd say to just keep the fluids & filters changed. Spark plugs, cap, rotor and wires.

OTOH, I must ask: how do you keep it from rusting back to it's natural elements? I would have expected to see major issues with rust with it being driven all winter.

RBob.

Wow, she really does look great for that many miles. That's encouraging for me about to buy a 160,000 mile 3.1 v6 Firebird...

Good luck with that car.

Re: High Milage 3.1 Owners

Thanks everyone. Ive owned it since 2006. It had bubbling on the rear 1/4s when I got it, so i fixxed them and rust spray it.

Buts solid, and i wash it once every couple days in the winter.

Car has original paint and everything, this is one amazing survivor, and does a damn good job in the snow

Here she is last winter :O

Re: High Milage 3.1 Owners

I know what you mean, I drove my 87 Sport Coupe with a 2.8 V6 all winter and with bald tires in never got me stuck. Going up a hill ever now and then it would break loose but I would just feather it up the hill, what a trooper I absolutely love that car

I always say these cars handle like a pad of butter on a hot frying pad.

Before I bought one I would have agreed, but my Sport Coupe proved me wrong, now if drove my IROC in the snow I would have to agree with you.
