So close yet so far...
In a search for some cheap full length headers I decided to try out some s-10 headers. It came close.
Here's the passenger side.

Looks good, but it made contact here...

and here.

It also didn't come down far enough as you can see here. The far collector is the driver side, which fit better.

Here's the driver side. Almoast a perfect fit. It even cleared the oil filter and oil psi sensors.

Came down far enough as well.

But it was unsettlingly close to the fuel & brake lines.

So the solution would be to move the passenger side down about 2" by straightening out the pipes somewhat and wrapping up the fuel lines with some heat wrap. Break out the torch & some beer.

I hope for everybody's sake it works out. Just remember to take some pics after the job is done. Make sure you're sober so we can all view them!

Clearance on the driver side is actually pretty close to where the catcon was, which wasn't great. So yea, it'll bottom out. =P

In the time and needed materials for the modification would likly cover the cost difference. I don't recall anything from Pace Setter being too expensive.

That's why I went with the heddmans. How cheap they were was a nice bonus.

Re: So close yet so far...
Well after getting a little happy with the torch and having to patch up a hole
I have them in. Gives a nice mellow burble at idle and cruise, but it gets a little raspy up top with nothing but glasspacks on there. If you decide to use these ground clearance is a whopping 4". I bottomed out the first time I took it for a spin
. When putting on the driver side header be sure to put the lower rearmost bolt in first, there's barely any room to get it in. I had to take the rest out again the first time I bolted it up to get enough wiggle room.

Re: So close yet so far...
I know I'm bringing this back from the dead, but has anyone tried these with a T-5? S10 headers can be found for a lot cheaper than the PaceSetters, but I don't want to burn up my clutch slave cylinder...
Also, any pics of final mods and clearances?

u can wrap the slave cyl with a starter heat blanket, or buy a roll of header wrap and wrap the tubes by the slave cyl and wrap the slave cyl itself

Re: So close yet so far...
The t5 is narrower than the th700 I'm sure you'll be fine. You probably want to wrap the brake & fuel lines instead. If you look at the pics you can see where the primaries need to be poped with a hammer to fit. It's pretty obvious what needs to be done when you trial fit them the 1st time.

.I'll get some heat wrap once I get the engine in with the headers and see what's going on down there with the clutch parts and stuff.
:edit: Only problem I saw with the OBX (I guess that's the eBay brand, among others) headers was that they have that crap AIR system with the individual AIR fittings per primary. Going to have to get plugs, I guess.
