questions about idle

Hey, I noticed that when the outside temps are around 40 degs my motor will run really smooth. It seems to pull harder and better throttle response. I know that cooler air will help a car run faster but what could be causing the car to idle rougher when it gets warm.

How can I test the O2 sensor so that I am not buying an new one if it's not needed. The timing is set at 11 deg btdc. I am now getting atleast 260 miles on a tank of gas. Are these tanks 14 gals, if they are then I could go about 20 more miles cause I usually put about 13 gals everytime I fill up.

My car idles fine when it gets warm, no reving up or down at anytime. The motor just runs kinda rough, At idle it is like my old v8. The car shakes. I've checked my vacume lines and they seem to be fine. What if I take the egr and solenoid off will it run any better? I do not have a regs were I live.

Thanks for your help.

Re: questions about idle

Not quite sure about your question but I don't really know how it is but it is. I've cleaned the throttle body really good, used seafoam in it and drive it hard sometimes but for the most part I take it easy. I need to replace the plugs and see if that helps my roughness. What do you mean it locks up?

Re: questions about idle

Hey man it may just be your o2 since it starts running rough when its warmed up. No doubt it is gonna be slower when warm. But o2 should help and i think they are only like $25 at autozone, but i could be mistaken.
