How to get dizzy hold down bolt on.

If I have learned anything, its easier to take apart something rather than put it back together. I got the hold down bolt off the dizzy, did what I needed to do and got the dizzy back in. BUT I CANNOT get the hold down bolt started back in the hole. I got a stupid TV cable running under the dizzy cap and its all in my way. Anything I can try or do different?

do you have an air pump? those things have a hose that will be right in your way. I attempt this car yoga position from the drivers side fender, there seems to be more room for your hand.

I had the same problem with mine. I just pulled the cable out of the way long enough to get my other hand in there and start the bolt. Not sure there is a better/easier way...unless you want to unhook the TV cable.

Do you have thhe double 90 degree tool designed for reaching that bolt? It makes all the difference in the world, reaching it.

I believe the last time I did it I placed the diizy in place and positioned the clamp where it needed to be THEN place the bolt through the clamp. I don't have the 90 degree tool. The only thing I got is a Snap-0n dizzy wrench made for the task. Does'nt do me any good till I get the bolt on. LOL! I might try to nudge the TV cable outta the way first. Let ya know.

Re: How to get dizzy hold down bolt on.

lol that bolt is a pita do urself a favor and tie a piece of sewwing thread around it when ur trying to get it in.
ive tried getting mine in opnce and droped the dam bolt and couldnt find it cause it got stuck up on the top of the trans

easiest way u have found is to use a magnetic bolt graber and use that to lower it down into place and then use ur fingers to start the bolt so u can pull the magnet off

Re: How to get dizzy hold down bolt on.

The easiest way i've found to do it is get the hold down in place first as you said Ken, look where the bolt hole is, then place the hold down there and keep it against the dist. as needed. That makes it easier to put the bolt in and not drop it.

The easiest tool i've found to use to remove and tighten it is the 15mm ratchet wrench with pivoting head. I havn't been able to find a 15mm dist. wrench, but it's deff. easier than using a swivel.

Re: How to get dizzy hold down bolt on.

Best is to replace the bolt with a stud & nut. Pull distributor, stuff a paper towel into hole (so no hardware ends up in the pan), install stud. Pull paper towel, put distributor back in, place clamp over stud, then washer & nut.

RBob.

Re: How to get dizzy hold down bolt on.

Well I finally got it on. I placed the clamp in position and then installed the bolt. If I EVER have to do that again, I'm going to install a threaded stud so all I have to do is place the clamp on and then a nut. Thanks for the input guys. Ditto Rbob.
