INFL REST Light & Voltage Problem

INFL REST
I know when you turn on your car its suppose to blink or stay on for a few seconds. THat is what happens to me but lately while driving it will come on and stay on for couple minutes or until I turn off my car. What is causing this problem? And can this in any way be related to the next problem

Voltage Reading
Start up the car its running around 15v. While driving no problem, but when I come to a stop the Voltage reading dips below 12 sometimes getting close to the first line (which I believe is 10v). The headlights will go dim, windshield wipers will slow down, turning signal will blink slower. The Voltage will dip down below 12 or go to 10 wether accessories are on or off (heat, radio etc. etc.). I've replaced the alternator and the battery is about 3 months old (even cleaned the terminals). What could be causing this problem? Is this in anyway related to my INFL REST problem??

Thanks for any help

Re: INFL REST Light & Voltage Problem

WOW no one has replied to this?!?! Try going back to where you got the alternator. They should be able to do a load test for you. If not, find an Auto Zone or Advance Auto. They will do it for free with the alternator in the car. If the alternator is having a problem keeping the voltage high enough at idle, it could be making the airbag system act strange, being that it is a sensitive enough module to be affected by low voltage. Also, do a load test on the battery. It may look ok, but may act up under load. I have installed remans from the part store that were N.G right out of the box!! Check to make sure the alternator is getting power at the 3-wire plug at the top back of the alt. case. The heaviest of the 3 wires. Should be red. Your SES light has not come on at all? It should if the ECM senses a low OR high voltage condition. Lastly, is it possible your underdrive pulley system is not spinning the alternator fast enough for it to produce an appropriate amount of voltage, especially at idle? Hope this helps.

Re: INFL REST Light & Voltage Problem

Also clean all the terminals that lie in between the alt charging post and the battery. And yes, there always seems to be a problem with the underdrive pulley system on our cars. You're supposed to use 1 pulley but not the other or something like that... you'd have to ask around for that one.
Either way, your alt is not putting out the power it's supposed to at idle, which is why everything slows down and gets dim. BTW, if this persists, and your voltage drops TOO low, you're going to need a tow truck...

Nope never had the SES light come on. Only the INFL REST. This is the 2nd Altenator I've thrown in and same problem, so I would believe it's not that. My pops suggested to take a look at the water level of the battery. Bought the battery back in July. I've the the Underdrive Pulley kit on for I believe 5 months or even earlier this year and haven't had this problem until now. I would think once I threw on the UPK this would have happened immediately right?

Alrighty I'll clean those up aswell. Didn't know that about the UPK. I thought the bigger pully on the Altenator made up for the smaller crank pulley. IDK wth im talking about lol. But like I said before wouldn't this problem have happened immediately after throwing the UPK on?
