vacuum advance

is there a vauum advance on a 2.8L V6 that came in the 83 camaro coupes? and if there is, will the vacuum advance off a V8 fit on my 83?

see the problem i am having is that i either have a dead spot in my carb or avacuum prob. ive replaced my hoses so i know i am good. when ever u hit the gas, it wants to bog down when i am around 1000-1500 rpms and we think over 5000 to. i have my timing set and new plugs, rotor, cap, and wires. also i put in a carb, fuel cleaner **** that comes in a big *** can in my tank last night, would that take care of a dead spot in my carb? any ideas?

Re: vacuum advance

is it a new carb ?i had the same prob in my '70 chevelle, just had to adjust the fuel advance at heavy throttle - cant think what its called but when you nail it it squirts extra fuel in to compensate for the initial rush of air untill it starts metering its self.its either dumping too much in or not enough, i had a scarey moment when i was at 80 and floored it, the car cut out so i had no brakes, steering or anything at 80 !!! DOHafter adjustment it was fine

Re: vacuum advance

you're refering to the acceleration pump I do believe zs&tas. I might try adjusting that. we do have vacuum advance, but I haven't heard of it acting up before. v8 version probably won't work.

Re: vacuum advance

thanks Chevyracingrox couldnt for the life of me think what it was called !
which carb do you have ? you could go to the manufactur's web site and download the manual, or follow the throttle linkage around the carb - some where it will be connected to and actuate a plunger that squirts the fuel in, theres usually an adjustable link between the throttle and the plunger.

Re: vacuum advance

umm....I'll have to look at my carb 2.8L, but I think there's a screw that you can just loosen so it has a less dramatic effect when you stomp on the gas.
