problem

about a week and a half ago, i bought my first car, a 1985 2.9L Camaro with a great body, but a wierd motor. The motor has so many non camaro parts I cant tell Camaro from non-Camaro. Anyway, my problem is that when i push down on the gas, it doesn't want to go, and you have to just about push the pedal to the floor to get it to go. Besides not having a muffler, I haven't been able to "find" any problems, like vaccum leaks. I've put new plugs distributor, and wires on. I haven't checked the fuel pump yet, i plan on doing that tomorrow, but besides that does anybody have an idea what else could cause it to do this?

Re: problem

Welcome, first off you have a 2.8, not a 2.9... maybe that was a typo. What do you mean by non-camaro parts? your issue may be that the catalytic convertor is plugged up. Check into that first.
