Nephew wants the car....

.....and my wife is ready for something new.

Yep, my wife bought the 1992 RS sitting in our garage brand spanking new waaaaaay back when and she's ready to move on. Our nephew is getting his drivers license soon and his dad has always been a fan of the thirdgen, having owned a 1990 Firebird in the past.

So what's a fair price? One owner (obviously), 87,000 miles, new tires, full tune-up recently, new shocks all around, full repaint 3 years ago (factory Dark Green-Grey Metallic), 3.1L V6, automatic, A/C, aftermarket (although fairly basic) AM/FM/CD/AUX-Input with 4 new speakers, very clean inside and out, cloth seats, aftermarket windown tint (the good stuff).

We're thinking $3000. High? Low? Do you think we're nuts? If so, why?

3000 is just a little high. maybe 2600? gotta be pretty close, it sounds like a great car. does it have any underbody rust?

This thread is worthless without pictures. There is no way to judge it.

Re: Nephew wants the car....

Here's a couple of shots - interior and engine bay look every bit as good. I work for Meguiar's...... I'm kinda picky about this stuff

Rust? Nope. SoCal car, been here it's whole life. Probably never got farther than 250 miles away from its birthplace in Van Nuys. The only real issue is a bit of a leak from the rear main seal - enough to make a mess underneath but not enough to even go a quart low between oil changes. Otherwise it starts with the slightest bump of the key and gets 22mpg in mixed driving, 27mpg if we burn a whole tank on the freeway.

I would say $2500 at most. It is very clean though. Great turbo project.

Re: Nephew wants the car....

Anywhere between $2500-3000 would be fair. The car is very clean, but its hard to get $3k for a V6 car thats even as clean as yours.

Re: Nephew wants the car....

I would have been all over that for $3K. Seems very fair to me, especially since your nephew knows exactly the condition of everything on the car (no need to change all the fluids "just in case", for example).

Re: Nephew wants the car....

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. You've basically confirmed what I thought and, since my wife holds title on the car and is selling it to her brother (for his son), I'll let them hash out the final price based on this input.
