85 Firebird 2.8L v6 Need More HP!!!

Hey Guys, I have a 85 Firebird with the 2.8L V6. Sweet body, dog engine. What is the fastest/cheapest way for me to significantly boost HP without major mechanical or difficult mechanic work? I'm not a novice, but by no means a master mechanic? ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!
I'm in Virginia.

fastest/cheapest haha sell it an buy a car with a v8 not a 305 tho. If you want quick and easy hp get a sniper wet kit made by nos its a universal wet kit it should take like an hour or to two install and you can choose how much xtra hp you want it goes from 35,50,75. Dont worry about the motor blowing real life is nothing like thta movie fast an furious the 2.8 will take a 150 shot all day long with no problems.

Aluminum I4's are alot easier to blow than iron V6's.
But yeah, that movie really fueled the lame tuner craze.

Ok good advice so far, but I've decided to drop in a 350 Chevy V8........buuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttt I need to know what transmission I have to make sure it bolts right in. Any help on that? I found a metal plate with some numbers, but dont know what they mean.

You have a v6...swapping to a V8. Your tranny wont bolt up to a V8, without an adapter plate. v6s have a different bolt pattern. Just posted this in another thread...though you might like to see it. LINK

^^ what he said. I know the 350's only came with the 700R4 because the 5 speed couldn't handle the power they put out.

Re: 85 Firebird 2.8L v6 Need More HP!!!

That is great info, but not entirely true. The 85's came with several different tranny's and 1 will bolt right up to a 350 Chevy. I just have to find out where to find the number of the tranny that I have in mine. Any clues?

I have an existing automatic in there now, and am trying to find out what the number is on the tranny. Do you know where I can find it? Is it listed on that code sheet in the center console? I heard it starts with an M but still have not been able to locate it.

Well that is news to me..... The V8s are 90* engines, the V6s are 60*, and the bolt pattern on the back of the engines are completely different. But good luck with your search.
You might want to poke around in the transmission forum...there's a lot of GOOD info there.
