Hey guys, need some help here....

My car's rpms are incredibly low, when I'm at the stop light, the car launches forward sometimes when and i have my foot on the break, sometimes it cuts off, some have said it can be the vacuum lines, well I just need to know what do the vacuum lines look like so I can try to do the job myself, and is there anything I should know before I take on this task? Thank a lot.

 

Vacuum lines are all over the engine bay. Seriously. Thin, somewhat flexible rubber hoses running everywhere. Back of the intake manifold is the most obvious place. Anything needing vacuum will have a line too, like the brakes, a/c and "orb of power".
Check and make sure they are all connected. Make sure there are no cracks, then follow each one to make sure they haven't rubbed a hole somewhere. You'll need a flashlight, but that's about it unless you want to get a vacuum gauge to be sure.

 

A friend told me about a trick to try and find vaccuum leaks. First inspect the lines and see if there are any obvious cracks or lines unhooked. Then start the car. Then take starting fluid and spray it on the vaccuum hoses. If there is a leak the engine will rev some. If this happens inspect it very carefully and look for cracks, loose connections etc. I tried this on mine and found one was unhooked.
