What I'm talking about is the spots I have the yellow dots on. Why are they raised? Like for the top gasket I'm going to have to cut the left part off in order to actually use it.

Not only that but NONE of the holes line up.

Any reason for this.............................

 

Those look like they fit on a FWD head as opposed to the stock cast iron heads which have shorter bolt spacing. You might try just using copper RTV instead of trying to either find or make gaskets for your stock heads.

 

I'm assuming the 4th gen 3.1 are FWD head?

This is the 2nd time I got these header gaskets looking like this. 1- From AutoZone 2-Summit Racing.

 

If they were for a 4th gen, then the engine choices were either a 3.4 or a 3800, for starters, and second, I have a set of 3100 heads in my garage, and I know what the gaskets look like since I had to remove the stock manifolds that won't work in an RWD vehicle. I'm telling you you definitely have the wrong gaskets there. The 3.4 gaskets WILL work as the 3.4 has the same upper end (with the exception of the plugged dizzy hole, coil packs, and the upper intake plenum, it's still an RWD design), but if none of the holes line up, I would assume some moron gave you the wrong gaskets, be they for a 3100, 3400, or a 3800. Either way, they're the wrong ones. Return them and use some RTV to seal them up.

 

I'm just going to open up the holes and use them.

The box says 87-89 2.8 and 3.1 (forgot the years) on it..........go figure
