Re: 3.4 swap

i too am trading my 'bird for an 89 camaro rs, and the guy has the tranny and 2.8, but the 2.8's harness is all clipped off. i found a 3.4 from a 94 camaro for a good price, complete from the computer to everything else. just wondering if the motor mounts are the same, and since the 3.4 is a 5 speed model, will it work with the 5 speed that was in the 89? i believe so, but you know the drill, ask before you do. money is tight these days!.

so basically my ? is: are 2.8's 3.1' and 3.4's all the same motor essentially, just diff bore/stroke and what not? as long as it mounts up the same and stuff, im planning on doing it till i get the 454 slapped together with the 6 speed im pursuing. any info would be great, and i already did a 3.4 swap search, but im gonna keep trying.

Re: 3.4 swap

Yes, the 2.8, 3.1, and 3.4 all have the same bell housing bolt pattern.

Re: 3.4 swap

ah many thanks, yea it looks like ill be getting this engine in about a week. 300 bux and it was rebuilt 25k ago, with 165k total miles. not too bad. even comes with the bell housing, clutch pack, etc.

it should be a relatively painless process i think, and since im putting the 3.4 in the camaro, il take the 2.8 stuff and put that in my yota pickup, maybe do the turbo setup for it! considering ive got injectors, lots of exhaust pipe, and a spare t3-t4, ill get the BOV, wastegate, boost controller and the IC kit, and it should be a fun lil motor for a lil while neway.

thanks drdave!
