Minor fixes, now rough idle
Minor fixes, now rough idle
I got this 90 model bird a month or so back, and am being continually amazed at pre-owner goofiness. Anyway, the car (3.1) has been running fairly well, but I thought I'de check pcv, clean throttle body, and check the plugs. PCV totally clogged. I replaced it. Got some throttle body cleaner, followed the instructions (throttle body stuff is new to me), and got lots of black out of there. Plugs looked to be 10 years old, and RUSTED outside. Still haven't managed to get one of them out...yet. Otherwise that's all I did. Idles at around 800 in drive, but now you can feel it almost wants to hesitate at idle...kind of got that shudder in the idle. I seem to have a noticeable power loss now. Not undriveable, but less power. What in hades could I have screwed up with these simple changes?
Is there some great secret to cleaning a throttle body?
Pulled a hidden vacuum line loose? Bad (new) plug?
Or just plain old bad luck coming to haunt my 3.1? Put the old stuff back on and pretend it never happened?
Kind of stuck here in the deep south right now with rain, but if it stops for a few hours, I'll look for my screw up.
Any suggestions?
