i am trying to swap a 3.1 v6 5 speed Camaro engine in to a 1990 chevy cavalier, still planning it, but i need information please. i need to know how long a 3.1 v6 with a 5 speed transmission is as well as how high and how wide, and i dont have access to one. any one out there can help me? thanks,

Are you trying to convert an FWD Cavvy to an RWD car? That could prove to be a long hard prospect. Anyways, there are Cavaliers out there that already have the 3.1... Yours should as well, AFAIK. If not, an FWD 3.1 would be a direct swap for you as the harness will already be set up for it.

:edit: And the T5 won't work no matter what you do. Even equipped as a 4WD transmission, it will still be too long for your engine setup. And it still won't have the differential/final drive assembly. You'll need to find a Getrag FWD 5-speed.

And this will probably end up locked as well...

 

yeah, i am trying to do a conversion. i realize the problems, right now i am looking for the length of a v6 with a 5 speed from the front of the block to the end of the transmission. given enough welding rods and time, i could turn a camaro into an airplane.......... so anybody have some measurements?
