engine missing firing?
I have a problem and I'm hoping some one will be able to help me figure it out. The problem is that what seems to be random times when I'm driving, be it on the highway or just in the city. When I give the car gas it will sputter like it doesn't want to go. But other times it does fine. It also will be doing fine going down the highway at a steady speed until I give it a little more gas and it will start to sputter.
I haven't checked for all codes yet, I'll try and get to it today and post what I find. I was just wondering if anyone had anything I should check out or advice. The plugs were replaced last summer along with the fuel filter.
Thanks in advanced for any help you guys.

It might be bad ECM, I had the same problem, sometimes it worked fine and other time it was causing misfiring problems along with other issues at some point, later I coudn't get any codes out of it, not even code 12. It might be some other sensor like TPS, see if you can get any codes

If you have a tach, does it jump when the engine is misfiring? That's an indication your ignition module needs to be replaced BEFORE it leaves you stranded at the side of the road. Also, have you checked your spark plugs' color? And yes, any codes would help.

So bad ignition module causes the tachometer jump? Cause mine was moving up and down within 10mph while driving, had the ignition module checked at autozone, not sure if I should trust them with it, the guy didn't look too sure about what he was doing, had the misfire problems as well

Don't know about 88 and 89, but in 87, the parts sites list 2 injectors for the 2.8, the pintle cap 523-5210s, and the Multitec 523-5136 injectors, back when GM was still using the RP 7 digit ID codes. I'd guess that 87 was the crossover year?
