Run a 12V source and ground to the top right (ground) and lower left (fuel pump test) ports on the ALDL. If the pump runs, the ECM is going south.

Do you know what code 54 means? 54 means that there is a fault in the fuel pump relay circuit. This means that the MAF, engine compression, fuel injectors, and the PROM are all irrelevant to this problem unless you have another code. If the test I posted above runs the fuel pump, the ECM needs to be replaced, period. I've been there and dealt with this. Replaced 2 ECMs and 2 fuel pump relays to get rid of the problem.

The extended crank is because it's taking time, with the cold weather outside, for the oil pump to build enough pressure in the oil galleries inside the engine to activate the backup oil pressure fuel pump switch because the fuel pump relay circuit isn't working to prime the fuel system so the engine is primed and ready to run.
