Poly locks?
Where can I find a set of poly locks for my valves? I adjusted them 40K ago, or thereabouts, when I did my head gaskets, and I had to readjust them yesterday when I regasketed the valve covers, as all 12 were slightly loose. I could swear hydraulic valves didn't need adjustments, right? I also am looking for poly locks as I plan on having the valves be adjustable for the 3100 setup (planning on using Gen2 pushrods), and I know that my current nuts won't work on the roller fulcrum rockers (tried to swap rockers yesterday while everything was apart and couldn't because the nuts wouldn't work).
Re: Poly locks?
Hit up your closest local machine shop. They've usually got cheapies. You might want to make sure the set screws actually screw in and out and that they're all the same size.

Re: Poly locks?
The way I understand it is that my current studs are 10mm, right? So I would need to remove the studs and retap the holes for 3/8" studs, correct?

Re: Poly locks?
Crane Cams sells studs to thread into the stock head with the standard 3/8" top. This way SBC style rockers (4.3l as we only need 12) could be used on the 60* V6 engines. This would also allow the use of standard poly locks.
Found 'em (wanted to be sure they still did make them). Part # 99148
Go to cranecams.com and drop it in the search box.
Top Stud Diameter & Thread 3/8" -24
Bottom Stud Diameter & Thread 10MM-1.5

Re: Poly locks?
I need to find polylocks myself if I go with the crower cam I've been looking at...And unless you have a mechanical cam with a set valve lash(ie. rocker arm tips have a gap between them and the valve stem) then you should definitely not have to adjust/re-tighten them.

I already knew that... I was making a point. Wasn't I the one who told you that?
BTW, check eBay... There's some poly locks on there right now for a lot less than Summit or those places want for them... same brands as well.

I've got a bottle of rum, so if I say something stupid just roll with it
And what are the threads for 3x00 heads vs. the threads for 2.8/3.1 threads? Or are they the same, wait....they're both 10mm right?

Re: Poly locks?
They're the same... Either we get the conversion kit above or have the heads tapped to accept 3/8-24 studs so we can use the poly locks.
:edit: Let me check on that number... 3/8 studs are too small on their own, so we would have to get the conversion kit (3/8" equals 9.5mm)

Re: Poly locks?
But they won't work with stock 3x00 rockers... Which some of us might have to keep until we can get SBC rockers.

Re: Poly locks?
Last I heard, Crane was out of business. Notice that Summit shows that part number out of stock until April. They have a habit of listing parts as being available in thirty days, then when the 30 days has passed, they push the dates back another thirty days.
