Flywheel problem, may need new
Okay guys quick info. Car is an 1983 camaro. The motor is a 1986 2.8L out of an s10. T5 tranny. The idiot i bought the car from had the balance knocked off the flywheel, and it is an externally balanced motor, 1pc RMS.
The motor vibrates like crazy unless when im driving it balances it self out at like 33mph and 65 mph. Trouble is I can't find a flywheel anywhere, local parts stores are filled with a bunch of idiots.
Can anyone point me to where I can get a new flywheel for it thats not $300 lol. Thanks for the help
Edit: Does anyone know the compatability of what other vehicles i can get the flywheel out of?

id say best bet check the site sponsers...hawks and thirdgen ranch, no clue what they will cost though.
and dont drive the car...or youll need more than a flywheel

lol yeah.. well I've had the car for two years now, just rarely driven since I knew of the flywheel problem, and since I had the transmission dropped out, I figured i'd go ahead and change out the flywheel. Autozone used to carry it but their vendor no longer has it.

eBay is your friend. I got mine for my 3.1 off of there for $90, most of which was shipping (those things are killer heavy, are they not?). If I still had the one given to me for my trans swap, I'd help you out, but, eh... Just be careful getting a used one as you may need to have it resurfaced. Try some junkyards around you.
Any wheel that's pre-88, I think, should work for you. Doesn't matter whether it's FWD or RWD as long as it's a 60* engine.
:edit: And definitely don't even start the engine on that thing if you can avoid it. Line boring the block is expensive, as is a crank kit...

Re: Flywheel problem, may need new
Okay well finally ordered one from Rockauto.com for an 86 2.8 s10 and what do ya know its the wrong one. The flywheel itself is thinner, but its 168 tooth and 14.5" OD whereas the one I have is 148 tooth 12.5" OD... so kinda upset about that..
From what I read the thicker flywheel I have is from a Camaro..
And is my information correct, Since i have a neutral balanced crank, I need to have a balanced flywheel? Is there anything else im missing?
