A little Speed

i was wondering what is the best way to gain speed with my V6?

out of the options of cheapest, easiest and safest for my engine.

i am not looking for a drag racer but somewhere between 200 - 300hp would be great. i'd like to give the old bird the ***** it deserves but i don't want it to kick the bucket in a month. also i don't want to spend big $$ to get there

2.8 v6 1987 Automatic

::edit::

lets just put it this way. i just don't want to feed the ego of some kid that adds a coffee can muffler to a handa civic and thinks that makes his car a drag racer.

if i meet up with some racer-want-to-be at a stop light i'd like to reach the speed limit before he does.

when i turn into on-coming traffic I'd like to get up speed and not slow down the flow.

so-on and so-forth

Re: A little Speed

i tried to find some hybrid swaps but haven't really found anything if you happen to have any links i'd like to see them. also if you have a generalized price range for adaptions to the engine to power it up i'd like to see that.

IE

turbo
hybrid
ect...

and what would be the best for sustaining the engine for the long term (adding the fact i'll make sure i'll do the regular tune-ups and fluid changes)

and what kind of boost would i hope to gain per add-on.

i may not know much of this specific work but i am a fast learner and really adaptable. i love to get my hands dirty and "just do things" some of this may be something i'll do in the later stages of my modding out the car but all the same it is something i need to learn and understand so i'll be better suited to pull it off.

Wish I could help you more on the hybrid stuff but I'm still learning about it also.

Re: A little Speed

Hybrid swaps are pretty in depth and not for the feint of heart, imo you should put a turbocharger on it, could probably hit those #s with less than 12 psi of boost, being your goals aren't all that high, imo its the better route to go, will be a lot easier, and you won't have to tear the engine down.
And stock for stock I think even a 2.8 beats anything(civic wise) but the new civics off the line at least, those little 4 bangers have no torque whatsoever. But I may be wrong...haven't actually driven my car yet, and when I do it won't be a stock 2.8...built 3.4, will eat rice for breakfast
