oil pressure gauge problem
On my 86 camaro my oil pressure gauge sticks, when i start the car it will either sky rocket to the top and stick or it will bottom out and stick, when this happens i have to take the gauges out, take the lens off and move it then reinstall, so the gauge doesnt work ,is there anything i can do to get it working again?

Check to make sure that the signal traces on the circuit film on the back of the cluster aren't burned out or something back there isn't shorting out. Shooting to the top of the scale and staying there is indicative of a bad oil pressure sender or loss of the signal to the gauge. And the reverse is a short to power.

Re: oil pressure gauge problem
My temp sensor topped out so bad that it pushed itself out of the area that its supposed to read in, its been like that for a while. I had to fix it by removing the fuse for the gauges a few times and replacing. But my oil gauge does weird things too. Either I'm loosing oil pressure as I drive or somethings up. If I'm on the highway it will read at 40 when I start to cruise and then it will work its way down to about 20, and then finally drop into the red after a while. But if I break free of overdrive on the highway and touch maybe 3000RPM for a second it will jump to about 60. When I'm idling in traffic its in the red, and when I start the car its at 80. So I don't know if the gauge cluster is having problems or if the sender unit is all wacky.
And strangely enough, the temp sensor, when in accessory, will respond to the amperage in the sound system.
