Resetting ECM codes

What is the proper way to reset error codes, and what is the proper way to set timing?

Re: Resetting ECM codes

You can reset the whole computer by disconnecting it from the power source. You can either disconnect it from the battery and reset your radio at the same time, or pull the ECM fuse in the fusebox and only clear the computer.

Re: Resetting ECM codes

You just unplug the battery for about 30 seconds to clear codes, and to set timing you disconnect this tan and black wire coming out of your harness near the ac/heater box and loosen the distributor just enough for you to move it around then hook up a timing light. Start the car, Have someone watch the timing tab with the timing light till you get it to 10* btdc by turning the distributor (put some whiteout on the harmonic balancer's widest groove to better aid in seeing it and do the same with the timing tab @ 10* mark), turn the car off tighten the distributor down reconnect the tan and black wire, disconnect the battery to clear the code and connect it back and start it up.
