Lost ALOT of fuel!

well today after i school i jumped in my car to take it to my grandmas for dinner, she starts easy and i back out of the driveway, well one of our neighbors was out and told me that my car was pouring gas out, i threw the car in netural and jumped out and checked under the ar and he was right, the line i thought was my breather line was leaking fuel like mad, well i jumped in the car and pulled it back into the driveway and got a bucket under the line, after it stopped leaking i swaped that line with the last line on my car, my question is, the lines goes, 1.supply 2.return 3. evaperator 4. breather right? i have 3 and 4 mixed...the reason im confused on this is because the car has ran GREAT for the last month and this is the first time this has happend at all and i wanna know why, can anyone tell me why this didnt happen sooner? might add that i lost about a fourth of a tank of gas.

Re: Lost ALOT of fuel!

just wondering how it got pushed out, could of of just been a build up of pressure that forced it out or was it pumped out?

Re: Lost ALOT of fuel!

i think it was pumped out, because it started after i started the car, you could see the trail of gas from my parking spot to the road, and after i shut the car off it kept coming out for atleast 10 minutes, enough time to pump out a fourth of a tank of gas.
