The fuel pump is in the tank, you would have to drop the tank to replace it. Some members on here made a access door by cutting a hole in in the sheet metal above the fuel tank to remove the pump...while this is not recommended it's been done. There is a difference in v6 and v8 fuel pumps I believe they have different fuel pressure ratings. Check rock auto or even ebay for a fuel pump at a reasonable price.

I bought a Bosch pump off rock auto for under $100 this summer, I highly recomend it.

LOL, I highly recommend AGAINST buying a Bosch pump (but I'm a big fan of rockauto.com!). I put a Bosch one in back in '96, it died two years later. Put another one in and immediately the anti-drain-back valve was bad. That was back in the day when fuel pumps had lifetime warranties, now they don't... I wonder why... LOL

The majority of the labor (and $$ if you go to a shop) is the work involved to get the fuel tank out. If you pay $$ at a shop and they charge you more than $300, make sure they're not cutting a hole.

V8 pump flows more than a v6 pump (gph/lph).

Re: fuel pump where is it?

There will always be a few stories about bad products from a certain brand, but they're usually the exception to the rule. Bosch products are at the high end of aftermarket parts. I personally know 2 people who have replaced their pumps with a Bosch (both own a 2.8) and neither have had any problems.
