Trannie pan bolt patterns, etc...

I"m looking into getting a B&M deep pan to help cool down my good tranny when I get it installed (november/december), and they sell one for the TH700R-4. Everyone knows our bell housing is different, but what about the pan bolt patterns, since I assume the pan is intended for V8 use. Thanks.

I don't believe there is any difference in the two.I had to buy a new(used)trans pan several months back.It came off of an older model trans with a v8(I think).I just removed the magnet from my pan and put it in the new one.

They are a sinch to install.THe hardest thing was removing the plenum to take off the valve covers. After that it is a remove and replace thing.

How'd you set lash? Looks like the whole top of the motor has to be put back in minus the valve covers.. and then the top taken off again to put the valve covers on.

You have the stock cam, right? Did you have to change valve springs? Those were the comp cams arms, right? Hehehe... sorry for so many questions, but I thought rocker arms were hard because of the valve lash issue. If they're not, well, I think I have a gift to ask my g/f for!

Don't you love asking your woman or family for gifts for your car? You have to like write down all the specs, tell them who to call, etc. They might as well just give you the money sometimes! MY g/f surprised me by borrowing the bird and taking it to the dealer behind my back to get a center counsel plate for me.

That was the hardest part Tom.

You could adjust them according to a chilton with the engine off.But 9 out of 10 times you would need to readjust them.

Yep, cam is stock and no I didn't need to change the springs. When we had the heads off the first time we had the springs checked for weakness. It pays to have friends who are mechanicly inclined in this area

Reno, you're right, it's not like "just buy me a flannel shirt, size Large"! In fact my girl just gave me the $$ for the MSD box after I started telling her "order this with this part # and call this #"

I also asked her not to buy me anything for my car unless I gave an obvious hint.. I told her I'd hate for her to buy some airbrushed license plate or something to hang from the rearview, and me not use it because it didn't go with the "look" of the car.
