Plug wires

I noticed white "spots" on the insulation of a couple plug wires recently while doing some other work under the hood, particularly where two wires are in close proximity of each other. Is this an indication that the insulation/dielectric is breaking down? Time for some new ones?
I was planning on replacing them soon anyway with some Accels; are there better wires out there?

MSD are the best, but I have accel 8.8MM cause I can't wait for delivery on items like that.. Price was right under 35 bucks and I can easly pick them up anywhere. I got the V8 universal set and made them exactly the way I wanted.. I even made them for my buddy... If I had my option I would get hte accel 10MM just to be weird...

Brian, you got a V8 universal set for $35?? Damn, thats not bad....I paid $50 for mine.

I am VERY happy with these wires, and the new RapidFires I put in Friday night. It definitely feels more powerful, and there's no more hesitation on cold take offs. I don't know if this has more to do with the plugs or the wires, but the car feels great.

The last set of MSD's cost me $80 from Summit.. I used the advice of others and bought the v8 set - so after 3 more wire purchases, I'll have another v6 set!

Don't know about the white spots- do they wash away with Windex? Are they not spots but rubbed away insulation?

If you can find a DARK area at night, raise the hood, and start the motor. If you have spark leak, you'll be able to see the blue sparks. (Just follow all safety precautions!)

I'm sure they'd clean up easy enough, just concerned that I'm getting leakage there. Will try the "dark" inspection Tom and look for external sparks. Thanks for the tip.
