Holes in the Airbox

Could I take the bottom off my airbox and cut holes in it? If someone has done this please give me details on what you did! Thanks alot!

I cut the whole bottom off with a band saw exposing the whole filter to the open air... Worked nice.. My buddy is now doing it and he likes it..
