Cold Air intake
Cold Air intake
I heard some where that the air intake on the 2.8's was already a cold air intake and that all I needed was the K&N filters. Is this true? I'm seriously thinking about getting some K&Ns this weekend. I also read about drilling holes in the splash guard under the filters. How much does this help, and how many/what size holes should I drill? Hope that wasn't a stupid ? . All help is appreciated!

Jason, there should be a tech article in thirdgen.org's tech section about doing a Camaro cold-air/ram-air intake.
And yeah if you cut holes in, or somehow remove, those "water-deflectors" under the filters, you'll let more air in. I've seen those deflectors in junkyards, they look very restrictive. If you don't want to remove them, then drill as large of holes as ya want!
Keep in mind tho if you do that ram-air intake from the tech section, it looks like rain water might get sucked in, so maybe you'd want the deflectors somewhat intact. Either that, or you could make some kind of cool flip-down or slide-up screening to use when it rains.

I think I might try the ram air for the TPI thats in the tech section! I have MPFI, but from the diagram it looks like it would work just fine! Dang, I can't wait to try this now!
