V6 fuel pressure

I was looking around on the site and saw that increasing the fuel pressure on a V8 from 42psi to 50 psi increased peak hp by about 15. I was wondering about the results it would have on the V6. Is the stock fp 42psi on the V6 too? And how would I go about upping the fp? Thanx in advance!

Not an answer but I once read that our fuel pressure regulatros couldn't be replaced as they were rivited on the fuel rail. But I was in the local pullit yardand found a frame rail with torx screws on the regulator. What gives? Can we put adjustabe regulators on?

While the GM manual states that the v6 fuel pressure regulator is not servicable, according to someone I knew a while ago, it -is- replaceable, and the v8 TPI units can be put on.

The regulators are not riveted, they are attached using security screws, so called because a little pin sticks out of the center of each screw. These take a star-bit with a hole drilled in the center. You can either find a kit with those bits in it, or use a dremel to remove the center pin. I've heard of a hammer & punch being used to flatten the screws' pins, but that seems a bit harsh.

Yeah stock FP is 42, but that's at idle, and the computer can increase it/decrease it as it sees necessary.

I'll probably add an AFPR after I do headwork.

If FP is computer copntrolled, couldn't a well programmed chip up it for you then? Also, I've seen AFPR's in the fierostore.com, so they must work on 2.8 MPFI's.

Heh, I goofed a little bit.. the regulator is vaccumed control. I know the computer has a hand in the final fuel pressure, though. Maybe by controlling how long the injectors are open for? Or controlling how long the fuel pump stays on?
