Mystery bracket. What does it do??
There is a bracket attached to the back of the passenger side head on my 3.1 V6. Sorry I didn't add a photo- it sticks up between the trans dipstick and the coil. It's end has a large hole it it.
It appears to do nothing but make it freaking impossible to get the damn valve cover off. Can I just chuck it??

you can ditch it...its for lifting the engine in and out, however there are ecm grounds attached to it as well so youll have to take those off and re attach them back to the head

You could yank it... Or you could leave it in place and swap the valve cover stud for one of the short ones at the top of the cover. Only problem I've had getting said covers off is the wiper motor, and getting around that is easy once the long stud comes out (and it always does because the nut is stuck).

Couldn't get it out. Loosened 2 bolts, but there must be a 3rd back there. I just put my polished fiero valve covers on and they fit going on better than the originals did coming off, so problem solved! Just waiting on my injectors and I can fire this baby up, FINALLY!
