2.8 motor help!
2.8 motor help!
My 88 2.8 Camaro runs really rough. When timing is set to factory spec I get no power. Timing chain is new, EGR valve is new, tune up was done, and we even tryed Zmax. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Clogged injector? Firing order messed up? Timing off? The timing was what had screwed up my friend's '86 2.8. Some jackass put a distributor in it and advanced the hell outta the timing.
Throw some injector cleaner in it and see what it does.

It could also be that the timing mark on the balancer has moved, due to a deteriorating balancer.
Verify this by bringing the #1 (front passenger side) cylinder to Top Dead Center. I usually make sure the engine's cold for this: I pull the coil wire off the ignition coil. I remove the #1 spark plug. I put a large phillip's head screwdriver gently into the #1 plug hole. Then I put a breaker bar on a socket, and turn the center bolt of the crankshaft pulley "clockwise" until the screwdriver stops raising.
WHen it stops rising, the balancer mark should be pointing to "0 degrees advance".
