A Question and Some Good News

First of all, to everyone who has a Borg Warner 5 speed tranny, the mount on my car only cost me $8.99. It was just a cheap rubber one, but it was the same one as I helped install on a friend's 305 IROC. So I don't know if I have a different model or what, but my mount didn't cost me the $150 I've heard people say it would.
Secondly, my problem wasn't entirely my tranny mount. Somehow, either the hole stripped out, or I forgot to install a lock washer, or something, but the bolt for the front torque arm mount has fallen out. Now, especially when I'm off the gas and coasting or slowing, I can hear the torque arm banging against my floorboards. What I wanted to ask was if anyone knew the bolt size that the mount uses. The length, thread diameter and thread pitch. I think I found the right size at home, but it just won't tighten down. I know this is a long shot, but hey, I had to ask. Thanks in advance.

The "bolt"? There should be two, shouldn't there? Or is the manual trans different? You didn't mention what year your car was; but I assume the bolt will be a metric one. Get to a Pep Boys or similar, where all the metric bolts are on display, and buy one of each. At the Pep Boys by me, a bolt's about 15 cents. Buy 20 bolts for $3.00, one's gotta fit

Thanks for the suggestion Tom. I think I have the plan. I picked up a 10MM 150 bolt that is a bit longer than the ones I've tried so far to see if it will catch the threads any better. If not, I will assume that the hole is stripped out, and I will tap it to a 12MM, 175 pitch hole, and put the corresponding bolt in to hold it well. On my torque arm, there are two big *** bolts in the rear by the differential, and then a mount that bolts on to the end of the tranny with a plate that clips in on the bottom and bolts in on the top with one bolt. This is all for an '87 SC LT.

Oh, that bolt! I forgot about that one. I had to fight to get that one in when I replaced the rubber torque arm bushing with the polyurethane one. The poly didn't squish so getting that top bolt in was hell.

Yeah THAT bolt. It's a lot of fun to try and hold the torque arm down into position while trying to use the other hand to get the socket onto the bolt head and turn it and everything. My mount looks kinda worn, so it wasn't "too" hard to do. I eventually got a 10MM 1.50 25 CM long bolt in there that seems to be holding pretty good. Hopefully it'll stay this time. By the way, Tom, how much was that poly torque arm bushing, and where did you get it?? I was considering getting myself a poly tranny mount as well.
